ADS - Alcohol & Drug Services
Alcohol and Drug Services in Stockport offers a day care service for drug users aged 18 or older and for the families and concerned others of drug users.
Anyone who has a drug problem can use this service - you can refer yourself or another service can make an appointment for you. ADS could help you if you are abstinent or cutting down your drug use and want help in making progress with this, if you have used a drug treatment service already or if you are stable on prescribed medication and motivated to change. ADS can also help you if you have completed in-patient or residential treatment or been through a detox programme and are looking for support following this.
ADS helps people to understand their drug taking and drinking behaviour and avoid the risk of relapse. The service works by offering counselling and motivational therapy and by using structured and unstructured group programmes.
ADS also offers a range of different treatments, including complementary therapies, assertiveness training, relaxation, anxiety and stress management, relapse prevention, an art group and groups on topics such as managing anger and personal development.
The service also runs the Crash Project drop in, specifically designed for stimulant drug users. This runs twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
ADS is open Monday to Friday between 09.15 and 5.00 and on Saturday mornings between 09.15 and 1.00
