DetoxDetox is a way of getting drugs or alcohol out of your system, in a controlled way and with medical help. Clients of MOSAIC and the Community Drug and Alcohol Teams can be referred into a detox programme or can be helped with a home detox.Via MOSAIC, CDT & CAT
Drop insDrop-in sessions give you the chance to get some help or advice - or a cup of tea and a chat, without needing to make an appointment to see a worker.MOSAIC, ADS
Drug Interventions ProgrammeThis aims to get clients out of crime and into treatment. The drug interventions programme recognises that helping drug-misusing offenders to get treatment and support benefits everyone. Treatment provides offenders with a real chance of breaking the link between their drug habit and the crimes they commit. Health adviceA range of health advice is available from your drug worker - on issues such as vaccinations, blood borne viruses and sexual health.MOSAIC, CDT, ADS
IT classesTo help people gain skills - and confidence, ADAS clients have the chance to take two computer classes a week, taking a range of courses e.g. Word, Excel, using the internet etc.ADAS
Needle exchangeA needle exchange scheme drop-in operates during CDT opening times to provide sterile injecting equipment and the means for a safe return of used sharps. There are also 11 needle exchanges in pharmacies across Stockport.CDT NEX
Progress2WorkThe Progress2Work service is for all drug users who are ready to go back into education or training or who want a job. They offer advice and support to help you join the course or get the job you want.MOSAIC, ADS, ADAS, CDT
PsychologyYou may benefit from seeing a psychologist, either for an assessment or for regular appointments.CDT, CAT
RAMP (Reduction & Motivational Programme)This service is for people who want to join the abstinence programme and need help in becoming drug/alcohol free. At the end of the programme, people can be referred to the main ADAS service if they are 'substance free' or into the other services if they are still using.ADAS
RehabRehab is time out at a residential treatment centre for people who find it difficult to get - or stay drug-free at home. The aim is to help you so that you feel able to get on with normal life without relapsing. If you are a client of MOSAIC, the CDT or the CAT, they can refer you to a rehab centre.MOSAIC, CDT, CAT
Relapse preventionThis helps service users identify what might cause them to go back to drug/alcohol use - and find ways of stopping that from happeningADAS, ADS, CAT
RelaxationDrug/alcohol users - and their families - often need help to relax. Some services offer guidance on how to relax and offer therapies to help you do this. Also, ADAS runs a meditation group.MOSAIC, ADS, ADAS
Shared careThis means that drug service users have their care provided by both a drug service and their local GP - people can be seen by their drug worker at their local surgery.CDT
Stimulant serviceDrop in, counselling and complementary therapy service specifically for the users of stimulant drugs (e.g. cocaine/crack)ADS
Stop smoking serviceYoung people can get help to cut down or stop smoking from the MOSAIC service. Adults who wish to cut down or stop smoking can call the Stop Smoking Service on 0161 426 5085MOSAIC
Substitute prescribingTo help cut down or stop using drugs, substitute drugs can be prescribed - Methadone and Subutex are the two main drugs used.MOSAIC, CDT
VaccinationsHepatitis A and B can cause serious long term physical problems and are potentially fatal. Ask your drug worker about being vaccinated against these illnesses. Hepatitis C has no known vaccines - but can be detected on blood tests and treatment is available.CDT
Women's groupThere is always the option for women to see a female worker. Also, the ADS service runs a women-only group.ADS
